The Sobe Life Water Shore Health System 2008 Golf Invitational held on Monday, September 15 raised more than $45,000 for the Joslin Diabetes Center Affiliate at Shore Health System. The Joslin Diabetes Center Affiliate is scheduled to open at The Memorial Hospital at Easton in November.
The 25 foursomes who accepted the invitation enjoyed a day on the Talbot Country Club course. Each golfer received a deluxe gift package, which included a pair of Nike golf shoes, a Dunning golf shirt, a deluxe golf towel and a sleeve of Titleist golf balls. A full lunch was served during play and the tournament ended with an awards reception.
On behalf of the Memorial Hospital Foundation, organizer of the golf tournament, Pat O’Shea, director of development and development operations, says, “We appreciate the support given by so many generous sponsors for this special event. I extend special thanks to Butch Townsend for once again serving as event chair.” The presenting sponsor for the event was Pepsi Bottling Ventures, distributor of Sobe Water. The Clark Charitable Foundation was the Masters sponsor. Pro sponsors were First Mariner Charitable Foundation, Jack and Susan Stoltz, Koons Easton Toyota, LENNAR and Willow Construction.
The first place gross team was Butch Townsend, Scott Beatty, Perry Otwell and John Tenuta. The second place gross foursome was Charles Capute, David Pyles, Neil Brayton and Chris Brownawell. Third place gross winners were Steve Miller, Jerry McConnell, Scott Murdick and Norm Beck.
Placing first net were Keith Gould, Gary Bigelow, Frank Fields and Tom Moxley. The second place net team was Tom Stauch, Wes Palumbo, Glenn Hardy and Ben Knox. Placing third place net were David Goslee, Brian Briggs, Eddie Morris and David Johnson.
Closest to the pin honors went to John Tenuta among the men players and Gail O’Brien for the women.
