Greg Mort, considered to be one of America’s foremost contemporary painters and a preeminent influence on art in the twenty-first century, will be giving a talk and book signing at Prospect Bay Country Club on Sunday, April 19, at 3:00 p.m. This event is hosted by the Kent Island arts community, which includes the Kent Island Federation of Arts (KIFA), The Arts and Entertainment District Steering Committee of Historic Stevensville, My Little Studio & Island Arts Gallery, Chesapeake Arts League and Art East. Refreshments will be served, and admission is free to the public.
Mr. Mort’s art is in major museums around the world, including the Smithsonian, and is currently featured in a one-man exhibition at the Academy Art Museum in Easton, Maryland and has been represented would wide for over twenty years by the Carla Massoni Gallery in Chestertown, Maryland. His work has hung in the White House as part of the Clintons’ collection, and former Vice President Al Gore commissioned him.
Mr. Mort will give a talk about his work and how it is expresses his passion for the environment, and the importance of stewardship. The talk will be of interest to artists and non-artists alike. His new book, “Voyages Exploring the Art of Greg Mort” will be available for purchase and signing/dedication by the artist after his talk. Proceeds of book sales will benefit KIFA and the proposed Kent Island Arts and Entertainment District.
