Grasonville Senior Center is pleased to announce its summer line up of Healthy Living for Older Adults classes. These classes are designed for seniors to improve health through education and awareness training. Instruction will focus on therapeutic health concepts and practices. There will be an emphasis on Line Dance, Arthritis Exercise, Aerobic Exercise, Pilates, Ballroom Dance, and Tai Chi. Instructors offer individual coaching within a group setting. Line Dancing offers great exercise for mind and body on Mondays at 1:30PM beginning July 6. Arthritis Exercise will help reduce stiffness of the joints and keep joints flexible; this class is offered on Tuesdays at 11:15AM beginning July 7. Aerobic exercixe offers an immense cardio work out on Tuesdays at 9:00AM and Thursdays at 10:30AM beginning July 7. Pilates on the Ball class requires an exercise mat and stability ball to improve core strength on Tuesdays at 10:15AM and Thursdays at 11:45am beginning July 7. Ballroom Dance is offered on Tuesdays at 1:30PM beginning July 7. Tai chi Exercise on Thursdays at 9:00AM teaches graceful continuous movements combined with breathing control to promote relaxation, balance, flexibility, muscle tone, and coordination. Tai Chi begins on July 9. Beginners are encouraged to try something new in these fit and fun classes. Participants must be age 60+ and should wear comfortable clothing and shoes to class. These Healthy Living for Older Adult classes are provided by Chesapeake College Division of Continuing Education and Workforce Training. Advance registration is required. Registration cost just $10.00 and entitles the student to take as many classes as they choose during the 12 week summer semester. There will be an emphasis on Line Dance, Arthritis Exercise, Aerobics, Pilates, Ballroom Dance, and Basic Dance Steps for Beginners and Tai Chi. Instructors offer individual coaching within a group setting. Line Dancing offers great exercise for mind and body on Mondays at 1:30PM. Arthritis Exercise will help reduce stiffness of the joints and keep joints flexible; this class is offered on Tuesdays a 11:15AM. Rock’n Aerobics offers an immense cardio work out on Tuesdays at 9:00AM and Thursdays at 10:30AM. Pilates on the Ball class requires an exercise mat and stability ball to improve core strength on Tuesdays at 10:15AM and Thursdays at 11:45am. Ballroom Dance is a new class offered this semester and will be held on Tuesdays at 1:30PM. Also new this semester is Basic Dance Steps for Beginners, which will offer a sample of several types of dance styles on Wednesdays at 9:00AM.
