On Friday, May 15, at 7:00 p.m., Bob Johnson’s Boston Jazz Trio will perform a benefit performance for the Veterans’ Initiative of the Mental Health Association in Talbot County , held at the Academy Art Museum in Easton . Dessert and coffee at Out of the Fire will follow the concert.
The Trio consists of guitarist Bob Johnson, pianist Phil Argyris, and bassist Jerry Wilfong. Talented jazz musician, Bob Johnson, now an Easton resident, worked with Phil and Jerry, both Boston-based, on and off for 20 years. Together they have concertized at Boston ’s best jazz clubs, including the Acton Jazz Café, voted by Downbeat magazine as one of the top 100 jazz clubs in the world. The Trio has also performed in jazz festivals throughout New England, and was featured in Pont Aven , France in its festival for American Music. The Trio has also performed as a rhythm section for such jazz greats as Herb Pomeroy, Stan Strickland, and Bill Pierce.
For the mental health benefit performance at the Academy Art Museum, the Trio will be doing interpretations of songs from the 30s and 40s, music from the Great American Songbook, Cole Porter, plus a few jazz standards.
