KIVFD Wine Pairing

“Great food paired with great wines will again be the focus of the annual Wine Pairing Extravaganza to raise funds for the new Kent Island Volunteer Fire station. The feast will be held this year on Friday, March 27th at the new station in Chester. “”This event was such a great success last year with people enjoying not only how the chef’s had chosen such a fun variety of foods but also how they were paired up with truly distinctive wines. In addition, people were excited to see this state of the art facility that their donations have been supporting,”” stated Committee Chair, Francis Roudiez.

Coming back to the Wine Pairing will be a Silent Auction. Committee members Linda Showalter and Donna Moran have been busy collecting imaginative items. According to Donna, “We plan to have fewer items then in the past, but we are really excited this year with the quality of items that have been donated.”

An example would be a piece of wine related furniture designed and built by David Iatesta with Iatesta & Co., Inc. located in the Chesapeake Bay Business Park. Each piece in the Iatesta collection is designed and constructed with painstaking attention to detail using the finest materials available. David’s pieces are exclusive and designed to last for generations.

This year’s event will see the return of many of the same restaurants and caterers. Committee member, Bryan Glorioso of Lisa’s Small Plates, will be the wine pairing coordinator once again and promises that there will be something to please even the most selective of palates! Pasta dishes, smoked meats, sushi, crab delicacies and chocolate delights will abound.

Three key players that have not changed are the title sponsors and Wine Glass Sponsor. Bank Presidents Winn Trice of Centreville National Bank and Tommy Rhodes with Queenstown Bank of Maryland both agreed to sponsor the event again this year. Bayside Physical Therapy has stepped up again to sponsor the wine glasses and the first 250 through the door will benefit from that sponsorship!

Tickets to the Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department’s Wine Pairing Extravaganza are $75 in advance and $80 at the door. The event will be held on Friday, March 27th from 7 to 10 PM at 1610 Main Street in Chester. For more information or to place a reservation, please call Sandra Early at 410-643-6288.
