Keep Development Down To Promote Agriculture

The Maryland Department of Planning met last week at QACHS, and the topic was Delmarva agriculture. Delmarva poultry industry representatives said the best way to promote eastern shore agriculture is to keep development down. Some of those who attended the meeting suggested developing existing communities before farmland. Local leaders in attendance included: Chestertown Mayor Margo Bailey; Delegate Dick Sossi; Senator EJ Pipkin; and, two Queen Anne’s Commissioners. Bailey said something many agreed with and that is to have the state look at where people work across the Bay Bridge and bring those jobs to the Eastern Shore.
