Kent County Circuit Judgeship In Hands Of Nominating Committee

A handful of Kent County attorneys have thrown their hats into the ring for a seat on the circuit court bench, a vacancy created by the retirement of Judge J. Frederick Price, effective June 1. Among the hopefuls are R. Stewart Barroll and Thomas N. Yeager, who were contenders for the district court judgeship that was awarded in December to John E. Nunn III. The other applicants for circuit court judge are Paul M. Bowman, Andrew C. Meehan and Robert H. Strong Jr., the county’s chief prosecutor since 1999. The Judicial Nominating Commission will interview the candidates and review letters of recommendation to determine which of the candidates are qualified and then forward those names to the governor, who will make the final decision. The salary for a circuit court judge is $140,352.
