Second and third grade students from Kent Island who live outside the Matapeake attendance zone will attend Kent Island Elementary this fall while heating and air conditioning work continues at Bayside Elementary. Only fourth and fifth graders will attend Bayside. Students who now go to Bayside will go to KIES for third grade. The students who are in first grade at KIES this year will remain there for second grade. The configuration will only be in effect for one year, and the school board will still consider long-term options, including having both schools serve students from first through fifth grades.
