There is word of some big changes at the company that owns the Star-Democrat, the Queen Anne’s Record-Observer and the Kent News, among others. Some long-time advertising and back-office staffers at the Kent News are being let go as the company, now owned by a group in Texas, consolidates resources. Word is the advertising departments for all the papers will soon be run out of Easton. Some locals are not happy believing that papers like the Kent News, which has been around in some form for over 200 years, will dry up and leave residents with no place to read up on local news, buy classified ads or just have a place to go to make conversation.
