Learn How To Become A Mentor

Talbot Mentors will offer its first New Mentor Orientation of the year on Thursday, January 29, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Talbot Mentors office on North Washington Street in Easton. Light refreshments will be provided. Registration is required.

About ten students are currently on Talbot Mentors’ list awaiting mentors. The organization’s staff carefully matches each volunteer to help ensure the most successful relationships. Some children may wait up to a year or more before mentors are found for them.

The orientation session is for those men and women serious about considering mentoring, even if not ready to commit to a relationship. A detailed introduction is provided about the program, allowing volunteers to make a well informed decision in choosing to become a mentor.

Students selected for the program have been identified as being able to benefit from having an additional adult friend in his or her life. Talbot Mentors volunteers commit to spending an hour or two a week for a year being that friend.

Ongoing support is provided by the organization and its staff. They sponsor activities throughout the year for both mentors and children, providing opportunities for interaction and encouragement from others in the program.

For more information, to make a contribution, or to register for the orientation session, call Talbot Mentors at 410-770-5999 or email info@talbotmentors.org.
