In 2004 the Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center (CBEC) established the Legacy Institute for the Environment in partnership with the University of Maryland Center on Aging. The Institute is now managed by CBEC in partnership with Adkins Arboretum in Ridgely and Pickering Creek Audubon Center in Easton to enhance their capacity to build stewardship for the Chesapeake Bay ecosystem. The Institute, a program of instructional sessions, hands-on field experiences, and volunteer service, will celebrate the completion of its fifth year on Friday, September 12 from 1:00 to 3:00p.m. with a recognition program at CBEC honoring the 15 individuals who completed all program components in 2007 and 2008.
Dr. Eric S. Wargotz, President of Queen Anne’s County Commissioners, will be guest speaker. Invited guests will include representatives from Maryland government agencies, elected officials and others.
