The doctors and staff at Smiles By Holsinger & Higgins, 10646 River Road, Denton, earned certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) after completing extensive training in the latest advanced life support techniques. Sponsored by the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation (DOCS), the educational session was facilitated by John Bovia, a nationally-renown American Heart Association educator and co-founder of Life Support Services, Inc., one of the largest training centers for health care providers in the country.
ACLS classes provide health care doctors and professionals with the skills to recognize and treat an adult patient experiencing cardiac arrest or other cardiopulmonary emergencies. Many state dental board regulations as well as American Dental Association guidelines are making ACLS training a requirement for sedation dentists.
“It is crucial that dentists and their staff are comprehensively trained to handle emergencies that may take place in their office,” says Patricia E. In addition, Drs. Holsinger and Higgins have received extensive training at Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies (LVI).
