Marine Contractors Worried Over Proposed Talbot County Ordinance

A suggested change to the Talbot County zoning ordinance is worrying some marine contractors who believe the new rules will hurt business. Private piers currently are permitted as accessory uses. The proposed ordinance would force landowners to seek a special exception to build a private pier and would make it easier to build community piers. Presently, community piers, which serve two or more lots, require a special exception. New size limits also are part of the draft ordinance, limiting the total size of the platform to under 200-square-feet.
