Maryland’s Board of Public Works approved nearly $2-million in funding to preserve environmentally sensitive land on the Eastern Shore. Officials agreed to pay private landowners for easements that will protect 615 acres in Cecil, Wicomico and Dorchester Counties to preserve wetlands while protecting the habitat of wildlife species. In exchange for the cash, landowners agree not to develop the land.
