We’ll be tackling English ivy, periwinkle, Japanese honeysuckle, and emerging mile-a-minute before the temperatures and the grass gets too high. We’ll also be utilizing GPS to map these invasive plants and others in buffer strips and in meadows. We will provide work gloves, tools, and insect repellent. Call 410 822 4903 to register.
Fresh Air Walk

Join us as we stretch our legs across the Pickering Creek’s Farm Fields. We will take a jaunt to corners of the property that usually don’t get visited on this 2-4 mile walk. The terrain is flat, but can be uneven and wet in spots, so hiking boots are recommended. We will keep our eyes open overhead for soaring eagles, wood ducks and arriving osprey and migrants. Evening Paddle on Pickering

Spring is here, and the water is glistening. Join us for a relaxing evening canoe on the calm waters of Pickering Creek. Enjoy the springtime sights of Osprey and Kingfishers diving for fish and Barn Swallows swooping for insects. Afterwards, sit by the campfire and mellow out with a couple marshmallows. Have you ever looked at a tree and wondered what kind it was? Join us for this morning hike at Pickering to learn about trees. You will be introduced to many native Eastern Shore trees via sight, touch and perhaps smell. Learn how to use a field guide that will help further your future explorations. Local Farm Foray with Audubon
SB Farms: Where the Buffalo Roam

Come join us as we learn about the growing number of local farm operations that are producing delicious, healthy locally grown food. Van transportation is provided for each excursions, with pick ups for program participants at the Easton Acme parking lot. Space is limited for each program, so reserve your spot soon. This program is provided at no cost thanks to a grant from the Town Creek Foundation.
We will visit SB Farms Bison Ranch in Hurlock. The ranch is locally owned and operated by the Edwards family. Learn about farm raised bison, grown without the use of antibiotics, growth stimulants or hormones. Find out how the Edwards provide a safe and healthy environment for the Bison, but to also control nutrient and soil runoff into the Choptank River and the Chesapeake Bay. The ranch uses rotational grazing and established pastures including native warm-season grasses. Call 410 822 4903 to register.
Tiny Tots: Crazy Crawly Creatures

Location: Talbot County Free Library, Easton
Experience nature through hands-on activities, stories, crafts, and much more! Tiny Tot programs are for children ages 4 and up with accompanying adult. There is no fee, but donations to Pickering Creek Audubon Center are encouraged.

What is 540 million years old and key to the survival of several species of shorebirds? Answer, the horseshoe crab. Come with us to witness this ancient but endangered spawning ritual and the shorebirds and depend on it. In addition we will bird the fields, woods, and impoundments of the Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge, considered one of the best birding locations on the east coast. Usually lots to see in one day, it is a great trip for beginning birders. Van travel from Easton provided, we will meet up with our friends from the Chesapeake Audubon Society at the Refuge.
