“May 1 was the first day of a national month-long campaign aimed at getting drivers to wear seatbelts with officers aggressively ticketing those who do not comply. Deputies throughout the Eastern Shore will ticket unbelted vehicle occupants through May 31 as part of the “”Click It or Ticket”” campaign. In 2007 more than 14,000 people who were not wearing seatbelts died in accidents. A press release says seat belts could have saved about half those lives.”
