Memorial ER Nurse Dies In Rollover

A 28-year-old Ridgely woman who worked as a nurse in Easton was killed when her SUV crashed on state Route 309. Maryland State Police said Anya Marie Fitchett was driving a 1999 Cadillac Escalade north on Route 309, north of Horseshoe Road, when she lost control of the SUV. The SUV went off the road, hit a tree and overturned. Police said Fitchett was not wearing a seat belt. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Shore Health System spokesman Patti Willis said Fitchett began working at the Memorial Hospital at Easton as a unit secretary back in 2000 or 2001, working full-time at the hospital while attending nursing school. Fitchett was a 2007 graduate of the Chesapeake College Nursing Program and worked as a nurse in the emergency room at Memorial. She was married to Randolph Fitchett III.
