The Auxiliary of Memorial Hospital through its 24th annual Tree of Lights fundraising campaign donated $10,000 to Memorial Hospital for the purchase of four Medfusion™ 3500 syringe pumps for the hospital. This equipment, which is available for physicians and nurses in the Birthing Center, Pediatrics unit and the Emergency Department, safely and effectively delivers intravenous medications to some of the hospital’s smallest and sickest patients.
Lois Krum, who served as the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary’s 2007 Tree of Lights chairperson, explains, “The Auxiliary chose the Medfusion pumps as our Tree of Lights beneficiary because we know that when our children need help, the community responds with generosity.”
Acknowledging the Auxiliary’s generous gift, Patty McNeal, BSN, RN, Manager of Women’s and Children’s Services for Memorial Hospital, says, “The nurses appreciate the Auxiliary volunteers and the many ways they help us better serve the families who rely on us for care. We are especially grateful for this gift because it allows us to even more safely and efficiently administer antibiotics to babies during a health crisis.”
