Senators Barbara Mikulski and Benjamin Cardin and 1-D Congressman Frank Kratovil sent a letter to the Department of Labor and the Department of Homeland Security urging the departments to accept applications for seasonal workers even though the limit has been reached. They say the limit for petitions for H2B visas announced by DHS for the second half of the fiscal year has been reached. Seasonal workers are needed for seafood processors, resorts and other businesses. Without the visas, the representatives say employers who followed the rules may not get the workers they need this season.
