More than 200 customers and area residents recently attended an anniversary and re-dedication event celebrating the 30th anniversary of Kent Drugs,1723 Main Street, Chester. Kent Drugs is a family owned and operated pharmacy, which opened on August 1, 1978, and at the time was only the second pharmacy on Kent Island.

In addition to the ribbon cutting and a reading of a county proclamation, the event featured free blood pressure screenings provided by Johns Hopkins Community Physicians, free information from Queen Anne’s County departments of Health & Aging and special one day discounts. A portion of the proceeds from every sale during the event benefited the Silver Lining Foundation Fund for Queen Anne’s County senior citizens. The fund was created to improve the lives of Queen Anne’s County senior citizens in need, and helps residents meet basic needs such as medicine, utilities, and food. Recipients are referred through county social service offices including the Department of Aging.

“It was a great celebration,” says manager Claude DiGiovine of Stevensville. “Although the event was about our 30th year, it gave us an opportunity to say thank you to the community and to our customers,” he adds.

Located on the corner of Main Street (Route 18) and Dominion Road, Chester, Kent Drugs is a family owned and operated pharmacy which opened on August 1, 1978. Kent Drugs is a member of EPIC, a network of independently owned pharmacies.

In addition to operating a full service pharmacy, the store stocks a wide variety of health care and home care equipment and merchandise and does special orders.
