Shore Regional Cancer Center is preparing for its annual mum sale, which benefits the American Cancer Society and the Talbot County Relay for Life fundraiser.
Mums in a variety of fall colors are available for $6 a pot. Orders may be placed in advance of the sale by calling Amye Foxwell at 410-820-6800. Mums ordered in advance will be available for pick up on Wednesday, September 3, 11:00 am to 4:30 pm, at Shore Regional Cancer Center, 509 Idlewild Avenue in Easton. Mums will also be available on Thursday, September 4 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm in the lobbies of The Memorial Hospital at Easton, 219 S. Washington Street, and Dorchester General Hospital, 300 Byrn Street in Cambridge.
Pam Black, LCSW-C, OSW-C, social worker for Shore Regional Cancer Center, says, “We are continuing our tradition of selling mums to benefit our patients who receive so many services through the American Cancer Society. In fact, everyone in the community benefits from the ACS through cancer research, education, and services, such as transportation assistance and funding for pain medication.”
Shore Health System is a sponsor for the Talbot County Relay for Life. Representatives from Shore Regional Cancer Center, Bay Hematology & Oncology, and Eastern Shore Oncology have formed a Relay for Life team to support the American Cancer Society and the cancer patients who will participate in the event. The Relay for Life begins at 6:00 pm on Friday, September 5 at Talbot County Community Center in Easton.
Black, who is co-chair of the team with Michele Halverson, explains, “The main purpose of our team is to cheer on cancer survivors who participate in the Relay for Life and to spread hope throughout the community. We are going to have some fun as we camp out all night at our Wild West Can-Can Saloon, which will feature a cast of characters from some of TVs favorite westerns, food, games and storytelling.”
