Maryland’s new laws governing child restraints in cars are now in effect. All children under age eight must ride in a booster seat or other appropriate child safety seat. The law does not apply to children who are at least 4 feet-9 inches tall or who weigh more than 65 pounds. Children between the ages of 8 and 16 that are not in a car seat must wear a seat belt.
