Betty Barbe, a 1954 graduate of Galena High School and former student of music teacher and band director Leone Woodall, is heading up a campaign to induct the late Woodall into the Maryland Music Educators Association Hall of Fame. Students were so devoted to Woodall that they juggled sports schedules, jobs and summer vacation to accommodate band practices and performances. Woodall retired from teaching in 1978 and then formed the Galena High School Alumni Band.
