New Summer Classes at Grasonville Senior Center

Grasonville Senior Center is pleased to offer its new Oil Rouging class for the summer session.  Oil Rouging is a form of artwork that combines two basic steps which result in beautiful and unique projects.  First, a pattern is traced onto the canvas and then filled in with detailed lines to create an intricate drawing. The next step is to add color by applying a very small amount of oil paint which is then distributed so it appears to fade away at the outer edges. Without knowing how to draw, one can create beautiful artwork using the old technique of pen & ink in a brand new fun way. This technique is completely correctable; even beginners can not make a mistake. Talented instructor, Tina Williams will offer this new 12 week course on Tuesdays from 12:30pm – 2:30pm beginning July 8 through September 23.  Registration is limited to students aged 60 or older and cost just $10.00. Participation entitles the student to take additional classes offered at no extra cost.  A supply fee of $10.00 is also required. Lunch is available with advance reservation. Grasonville Senior Center is located at 4802 Main Street, Grasonville.  Interested persons should call (410) 827-6010 for more information.

Grasonville Senior Center is pleased to offer a new Printmaking class for the summer session.  Printmaking is the art of cutting a design or image into a block of wood, metal, plexi-glass, or linoleum, flooding the block with ink, then imprinting the image onto paper by hand. Talented instructor, Liz Lepre will offer this new introductory Printmaking class to beginners to teach the basics of creating prints.  Students will develop and create their own note cards as the first project in the class and then move on to more advanced projects of their choice. Examples of printmaking projects are currently on display at the center. Engraving dates back to cave art, executed by stones, bones, and cave walls.  It’s so easy a caveman can do it . . . and so can you! The 12 week course is offered on Wednesdays beginning July 9 and runs through September 24.  Two classes will be offered, a morning session from 10:00am – 12:00pm and an afternoon session from 12:30pm – 2:30pm. Registration is limited to students aged 60 or older and cost just $10.00. Participation entitles the student to take additional classes offered at no extra cost.  A supply fee of $5.00 is also required.  Students should bring their own apron. Lunch is available with advance reservation. Grasonville Senior Center is located at 4802 Main Street, Grasonville.  Interested persons should call (410) 827-6010 for more information.
