Nurse is an Everyday Hero

Stella Hubbard, RN, a nurse in the Telemetry unit at The Memorial Hospital at Easton, is an Everyday Hero. At least that is what a patient’s family thinks. They made a donation to the Memorial Hospital Foundation because of the excellent care Hubbard provided when their father was hospitalized.

The donor, who chose to be anonymous, commented, “Our father was recently a patient of Stella’s. We felt that she went out of her way to make sure that he was taken care of in a very caring manner. Everyone took great care of him during (his stay), but we felt that Stella went above and beyond. She is a wonderful asset to the patients on this floor.”

Hubbard received a letter from the Memorial Hospital Foundation and a lapel pin at a ceremony held in her department. Once a year, the Memorial Hospital Foundation will host a reception to honor everyone who has been named as an Everyday Hero during the year.

“We know that people always want to say ‘thank you’ for the great care they get whether from a physician, a nurse, a lab tech, Food Services staff or one of the Auxiliary volunteers,” says Julia Marlowe, Vice President of Philanthropy for Shore Health System. “Over the years we in the Foundation have received checks of all sizes from people whose lives have been touched in special ways by our staff. The Everyday Hero program gives patients and their families an opportunity to more formally recognize a person who has enhanced their Shore Health System experience.”
