Ocean City tourism officials launched an advertising blitz to promote the resort as a summer destination. The ads cite a scientific study that predicted the world’s oceans would disappear in one-billion years and encourages people to hurry and visit Ocean City before the ocean evaporates. The two-day, $1-million advertising campaign began last weekend in media markets stretching from Richmond, Va. to New York City. It includes print, radio and television ads purchased by Owings Mills advertising agency MGH, Inc. The agency’s creative director, John Patterson, says it is hoped the blitz will create a buzz that keeps people talking after the advertisements disappear.
