Ocean City Bans Salvia

Ocean City officials passed emergency legislation banning the sale or possession of salvia, a hallucinogenic herb that can be bought in many Boardwalk shops. Ocean City Police Chief Bernadette DiPino says officers went door to door checking to see if stores had salvia in stock. The law makes sale, possession, manufacture or distribution of salvia a misdemeanor with penalties of up to six months in jail, a $1,000 fine or both. Salvia is banned in 10 states, including Delaware, but not in Maryland.
