Ocean City Votes To Ban Salvia

“Ocean City officials are moving quickly to ban salvia, a hallucinogenic herb that can be bought in many Boardwalk shops. The Town Council voted this week to outlaw sales and possession of salvia in the resort. Salvia is banned in ten states, but not in Maryland. A lawyer for the state informed Ocean City officials that they can pass their own law. Mayor Rick Meehan says city officials view the drug as a “”dangerous substance”” and hopes the state follows Ocean City’s lead. Salvia can give users an out-of-body sense of traveling through time and space. Its effects generally last no longer than an hour.
