The Confirmation Class at Our Mother of Sorrows/St. Peter the Apostle Parish raised over $6,000 this school year by hosting a Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner, and by creating and selling chocolate Easter eggs. Their efforts were focused on helping out the community by supporting organizations that needed the money for materials and supplies to help others in the area. The funds were expended to create personal care kits to support the Caring and Sharing Fund of Queen Anne’s County as well as to donate $3,000 to Hospice of Queen Anne’s and to assist in renovations to Corbaley Hall at Our Mother of Sorrows.
This fundraising was the culmination of the Our Mother of Sorrows/St. Peter the Apostle Parish Confirmation program, a year-long program in which 9th and 10th graders examine their faith and discover its “”real world”” application to their lives, with an emphasis on “”living outside the self.”” Mary Wood, Director of Religious Education, stated, “”This was a very special class. They really took that message to heart.”” Anne Warpinski, one of the program’s educators, added, “”It has been wonderful to see them grow in their faith and to make good choices.””
