State Senator EJ Pipkin has taken his save-the-Bay-Bridge campaign to the state Board of Public Works. Pipkin wants the state to pay for an independent inspection of the bridge, saying if an independent firm found the bridge to be sound, it would be a huge confidence builder for the public. Pipkin has wanted such an inspection for some time, and his campaign gained momentum after the August tractor-trailer accident that killed a truck driver.
