Please join us for a free, open to the public plein air painting demo and talk by Bill Schmidt, “The Traveling Impressionist”.

With wit and humor, Schmidt explains how he creates a plein air painting–from pencil sketch to on site painting–and the studio procedures he uses to complete his works.

Schmidt is a highly respected veteran plein air painter who has traveled the world in search of new subjects. He paints en plein air throughout the seasons, doing all but his largest paintings on site. “”I like nature, but also nature touched by people.”” His work has appeared in numerous publications including Art Business News, American Artist, The Artist’s Magazine and on the cover of the December 2007 issue of Chesapeake Bay Magazine.

A member of the Washington Society of Landscape Painters, Schmidt’s work has twice been juried into the annual national exhibition of the American Impressionist Society at the Hillgoss Gallery in Chicago — most recently in 2007.
