Property Tax Credit Effective July 1

“Permanently and totally disabled law enforcement or emergency workers, or spouses of those who have died in the line of duty, who own property in Queen Anne’s County, may be eligible for a property tax credit.

Queen Anne’s County Ordinance 08-18 was introduced by Commissioner Gene Ransom and passed unanimously last fall. The ordinance goes into effect at the beginning of the new fiscal year on July 1, 2009. A complete copy of the ordinance may be found by going to http://www.qac.org/Docs/Ordinances/Ord%2008-18.pdf.

“”We hope this expresses our concern and provides some support for families who have suffered such a terrible loss,” said Commissioner Carol Fordonski, speaking on behalf of the entire Board.

Applications for the credit may be obtained from the Queen Anne’s County Finance Office, located in the Liberty Building in Centreville. The completed application, including a Certificate of Service and, if applicable, a copy of the death certificate, will be forwarded to the County Commissioners for approval.
