The Queen Anne’s County Commissioners have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with several Maryland jurisdictions in order to prepare for challenges stemming from the Base Realignment and Closure process, also known as BRAC.
Ten jurisdictions have collaborated in this effort, including Queen Anne’s, Talbot, Prince George’s, Montgomery, Howard, Baltimore, Anne Arundel and Carroll counties, as well as the city of Laurel and Baltimore City. Member jurisdictions mutually agree coordinating regional efforts with individual local efforts will be the key ingredient to successfully developing better and stronger solutions to the challenges posed by this unprecedented growth.
Growth throughout the Fort Meade area is expected to be substantial over the next 20 years with BRAC bringing about 22,000 jobs.
