The Queen Anne’s County Garden club received the Rae B. Weeks Historic Preservation Award for their project of refurbishing the two Blue Star Memorial Markers on Route 301 North of Centreville. The Blue Star Memorial Highway Markers honor all service members in the Armed Forces. The refurbishing was made possible through the Queen Anne’s Garden Club, a grant from the Principal Financial Group and planting by The Maryland State Highway Administration. Bonnie Stevens, President of the Federated Garden Clubs of Maryland, Inc. presented the award to Arline Mayer, president of the club and Jane Chambers, 1st Vice President of the club and Project Chairman at the State Annual Meeting on March 25th, 2008 at the Suburban Club in Baltimore.
