Renowned Medical Researcher to Speak at Memorial Hospital

Shore Health System is hosting a luncheon lecture on Wednesday, July 9 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Guest speaker John Eng, MD, will discuss “Birth of a Drug: From Bench to Bedside.” The seminar is free to healthcare professionals and will be held at the Nick Rajacich Health Education at Memorial Hospital, 219 S. Washington Street in Easton.

 

Dr. Eng, a Harvard and Columbia University educated medical researcher, discovered Byetta, a valuable medication for the treatment of diabetes. Today, he is the director of clinical informatics at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in the Bronx, New York, and an associate professor of medicine at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. Dr. Eng studied and worked with Dr. Rosalyn S. Yalow, who won the 1977 Nobel Prize in Medicine for the development of radioimmunoassays of peptide hormones.
