Satyr Hill Performs at Millstream Park

“Bluegrass Unlimited” describes the Satyr Hill Band as, “…one of Baltimore’s premier bluegrass groups” and the Queen Anne’s County Arts Council gives them high ratings too, “They delighted and surprised our audience at their last performance with a mix of fantastic musicianship and a wonderful sense of humor.”

The original Satyr Hill Band evolved from pieces of a well-know traditional bluegrass band of long standing in the Baltimore area known as “Grass on the Rocks.” In 1982, the group adopted its new name after a steep hill outside of Baltimore and the logo was soon to follow. The band has always consisted of members from various musical backgrounds with superb vocal harmonies. Members include Jude Restivo (fiddle, vocals), Rick Miller (guitar, vocals), Charlie Smith (mandolin, vocals), Tom Reeves (bass, vocals) and George Osing (banjo). The band has developed a unique sound that mixes traditional bluegrass with the contemporary bluegrass, ‘newgrass’ sound.

Their debut release, “In the Grove” has music critic Les McIntyre singing their praises, “The band comfortably tackles each selection with zeal and enthusiasm no mater whether it is an old favorite like “Blue Ridge Cabin Home” or the more contemporary “Song for Life”…[In the Grove] is delightfully entertaining…” The CD was nominated for a WAMMIE in 2003.

The concert will be held at Millstream Park on July 10 at 7 pm.
