Shoplifter Arrested in Stevensville

Deputy Robert Boyles of the QA Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the Food Lion Store in the Thompson Creek Mall for a reported shoplifter. Prior to arriving, the subject fled last seen running across Rt. 50.

Upon arrival store employees advised that the suspect, a white male wearing blue denim shorts and a white shirt had been seen leaving the store with a grocery cart containing numerous items that had not been paid for. He then went to a vehicle in the parking lot, a Chevrolet Blazer and placed the items into bags and then into the blazer. The suspect then returned to the store and began to get additional items. When confronted, the suspect left the items and ran from the store.

Deputy Boyles checked the Blazer and saw several bags of grocery items as described by employees. Boyles took custody of the items and also discovered several bags of items from the Dollar General Store. Checking with that store it was determined those items had also been taken without paying for them.

While at the scene, a female subject arrived and advised she had been called by Michael Holmes who was out of breath on the phone and was requesting she remove the vehicle from the parking lot. With her assistance, Holmes was located on East Main Street in Stevensville and taken into custody.
