Fifteen members of the Chesapeake Moms Club went shopping for a great cause last week at a local consignment store. The moms met at Babies In Bloom & Blooming Deals Consignment for food, friendship and shopping to raise money for the Cases For Kids Charity Program. Most moms brought backpacks for the cases program and in return were given a free gift. Michelle O’brien, mom of Brownie Troop152 brought a basket full of toiletries and fun things to put in the cases.
Elizabeth Cavanaugh, a moms club member and organizer of the event said, “ we are very happy to help out kids who are in need in our community- and what a fun way to do it! “ Co-owners of the consignment store, Dawn Schultz and Mandy Jones agreed to give 20 % of the total sales of the 2 hour shopping spree to the Cases For Kids program.
The total donation to the charity was $204 at the end of the evening.
Cases for Kids gives suitcases, backpacks or duffle bags filled with clothing, toys and toiletries to foster children and children in need. The “cases” are donated by the community and the clothing provided by the consignment store. Referrals for the cases come from maternal-child health organizations mostly from Queen Anne’s, Talbot or Kent Counties.
