Shore Health System is sponsoring Shore Kids Camp for children who have diabetes and asthma. The day camp will be held at the MEBA Engineering School in Easton Monday, July 13 through Thursday, July 16. The camp meets daily from 8:45 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Designed for children ages 7 through 12, Shore Kids Camp provides an entertaining and educational experience that includes group games, swimming, sports, and arts and crafts activities. The children will be supervised by trained counselors along with volunteers from the medical community, who can support children with special needs.
Shore Kids Camp organizer Wynne Aroom RN, CDE, a certified diabetes educator and patient education specialist for Shore Health System, says, “The camp is a safe and healthy environment where children can have fun while learning about diabetes and asthma. By the end of the week, the kids will have gained knowledge about their medical conditions and acquired skills that enhance their mental, physical and social well-being.”
Cost of the four-day camp is $75; some scholarships are available. Registration and a $10 deposit for materials are due by June 25. For more information and to register, contact Wynne Aroom, 410-822-1000 or 410-228-5511, ext. 5231.
