The Dorchester Skipjack Committee recently thanked some of the major donors to its Sailraising Campaign with a special sail on the skipjack Nathan of Dorchester. The campaign raised funds for a new set of sails for the vessel, now gracing the boat for her 2008 sailing season.
Among those on board were representatives from the Nathan Foundation, which not only contributed to the campaign, but has also supported the boat’s educational and recreational mission since it first funded the skipjack’s construction in 1994.
Also joining crew and committee members for the sail were Harold Ruark, designer of the boat, and Will Keyworth from North Sails, which built both the new and original sets of sails.
Dorchester Skipjack Committee President Dan Cada thanked all those who had made the purchase of the Nathan’s new sails possible and expressed the committee’s appreciation for their continued generous support.
