Smoke Detector Saves Queenstown Home

An electrical fire damaged the rear bedroom of the single-story home owned by Chris G. Smigo on Somerset Court. According to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office, a smoke detector was present and activated. Queenstown, Grasonville and Kent Island volunteer fire departments responded. It took 27 firefighters about five minutes to control the blaze. Damages are estimated at $1,000 to the structure and $5,000 to contents. No one was injured.
