Attorney General Douglas F. Gansler filed charges against six Maryland health clubs. According to state law, health clubs, weight-loss centers and self defense schools must register with the Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division before selling health club services. D.C. Martial Arts Academies Inc. of Bethesda, Elite Martial Arts Academy of Sunderland, Island Athletic Club Inc. of Grasonville, Karate Club of America Inc. of Silver Spring, Positive Impact Martial Arts of Potomac, and World Wing Chun Kung Fu and Karate Academy of Maryland Inc. in Woodland all failed to renew their registrations.
