Step Out For Breast Cancer

It’s almost time for the annual Oxford Day 10K Race, 2009! Saturday morning, April 25th, the streets of Oxford will be filled with runners, walkers and dogwalkers. The run/walk/dog walk, which kicks off the festivities of Oxford Day, is now in its ninth year, supporting breast cancer awareness and support services through Women Supporting Women. The run and walks begin at the Oxford Community Center at 8am. All participants will receive a lite breakfast and a tee shirt, designed by Oxford artist, Joanne Boughner, included in their registration fee. The dog walkers will receive a bag of goodies for their pups, including pink bandanas and treats.

Women Supporting Women provides services in the form of support groups led by trained nurses, individual support counseling and tote bags containing educational materials and comfort items for the newly diagnosed. We receive referrals from local physicians to provide services to their patients. In addition, WSW publishes a monthly newsletter that reaches over 1,300 survivors. WSW provides awareness throughout the Eastern Shore by attending local health fairs and community events. All services are FREE to survivors in need. Women Supporting Women is a community based 501c3 non profit which serves locally and is sponsored by local businesses, grants and individuals. Business sponsorships and donations for this event are welcome.

Registration forms are available at the Oxford Community Center, the Oxford Post Office, Cross Court Athletic Club, the YMCA, Curves of Easton, Body Watts and at the Women Supporting Women office in Easton. Online registration is available at www.active.com . Please call the office at 410-822-9420 for forms, team packets or more information.
