Talbot County Chamber of Commerce and Talbot County Young Professionals To Host Luncheon Speaker Matt Eversmann

The Talbot County Chamber of Commerce Luncheon Committee is pleased to announce that Matt Eversmann will speak at their September 18, 2008 luncheon. The event will be held at Krystal Q at 12:00 Noon. The sponsors for this event are Queenstown Bank of MD and Ann Cassidy/Aflac Insurance.

As a US Army Ranger, Matt Eversmann was the leader of Chalk 4 during the battle of Mogadishu. The October 3, 1993 mission was his first opportunity to lead a group into combat. His compelling story was told in the movie Black Hawk Down.

Most recently, Matt and his company served 15 months in Iraq. Operation Morale, A Talbot County Young Professionals Program was started to support the troops, which raised more than $35,000 worth of donations to send to Matt and the men in his unit. The support from eastern shore residents for this undertaking was remarkable.

Eversmann wears the following awards and decorations: The Army Service Ribbon, the National Defense Service Ribbon, 8 Army Achievement Medals, 4 Army Commendation Medals, a Meritorious Service Medal, the Ranger Tab, Master Parachute Wings, Royal Thai Jump Wings, British Jump Wings, Egyptian Jump Wings and the Expert Infantryman’s Badge. For service in Somalia, he was awarded the Bronze Star with Valor device and the Combat Infantryman Badge.
