Cadby Theatre at Chesapeake College on Oct. 10 and 12, and a final performance at St. Michaels High School on Oct. 17. “”Lepers Without Lesions,”” on the life of Frank Spillman of Secretary, is performed by veteran actor Logan MacCormick of Trappe. “”Please Don’t Forget Me,”” on the life of Tanisha Haynes, is performed by Teejay Ford. Two actors will alternate performing “”Never Quit, Never Flinch,”” on the life of Easton attorney William Hollis. They are Nick Roetzel of East New Market, and Eric Mihan of Oxford. The performances are free of charge.

October 11: Oxford Fire Company Firehouse Renovation Celebration – The Oxford Fire Company will celebrate the completion of its firehouse renovation project with a community open house, parade and rededication ceremony from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11. The Fireman’s Parade will be held on Morris Street at 11 a.m., followed by a ribbon cutting at noon, officiated by fire company President Rick Schmitt.

October 11: Annual Nace’s Day Celebration – Trappe celebrates a unique event that commemorates Maryland Emancipation Day and is the longest running celebration on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. The event is named in honor of Nathaniel “”Uncle Nace”” Hopkins (1834-1900), a former slave and Civil War soldier, for his many efforts in bringing equality and honor to the black community after the war. Hopkins is credited with starting the first school for blacks in Talbot County in 1878 and for helping establish Scotts United Methodist Church, which today sponsors the celebration.
