Take a two-hour tour of the steps, history, emotion and flair of Argentina’s famous Tango. Summer dance sessions are coming to a close, but there is still time to take a quick trip on the dance floor at the Centre for the Arts in downtown Centreville. Championship Ballroom Dance instructor Amanda Showell offers this fun and fascinating dance seminar for dancers new to Tango and those interested in a refresher course.
The seminar will be held on Wednesday, August 27 from 7 to 9 pm. Students will learn the history behind the dance, basic techniques, how to lead and follow, the rhythm of the dance and a few “flashy” dance moves for prime time on the dance floor. This seminar is appropriate for beginning to advanced students ages 15 and up. Singles and couple sign ups are welcome. Advance registration is required. The deadline for registration is August 20. Class cost is $25.
Instructor Amanda Showell has taught at some of the largest dance schools on the East coast, having coached the dance teams of both Princeton University and the University of Delaware.
