Talented dancer and instructor Jeanne Marie Duran offers Tap Dance classes beginning on September 18. Tiny Tappers is a half-hour class, appropriate for ages 4-5, and will run from 6-6:30pm. Children will learn Tap dance, rhythm, basics of dance, and performance techniques. Kid’s Tap (ages 6-12) runs from 6:30-7:15pm and will incorporate stretch, basics of Tap, technique, rhythm and combinations across the floor. Tap for Beginners and Intermediate Students (for teens and adults) will be from 7:30-8:15pm. All students are encouraged to move at their own pace. Great exercise and great fun! Tap shoes, leotard, tights or dance attire is required.
All three classes will have three sessions so that students can continue dance lessons through the fall. Classes will be held at the Centre for the Arts in Centreville, MD.
With over 25 years of experience in the dance entertainment industry, Duran has worked in the U.S. and abroad. Her range of professional experience includes working as a dancer for Disneyworld and Tokyo Disneyland. She has performed in numerous shows in Las Vegas including working as a dancer for Siegfried and Roy. She has taught at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts and at St. Jude’s Ranch working with special needs children.
Centre for the Arts classes are designed to renew existing artistic interests, and to develop new skills. Registration materials are available at 206 S.
