Three Major Fires In Kent County

The Fire Marshal’s office is going through evidence from three major fires around Chestertown that occurred in less than two hours and caused over $2-million in damages. Two hundred firefighters from Maryland and Delaware helped fight the fires. Deputy state fire marshal Howard Ewing says there is no evidence the fires were the work of a single arsonist, but arson is suspected in one of the fires at the former Church Hill Lumber Company. The costliest of the three fires at $1.5-million in damages was at the David Bramble construction location on Morgnec Road. Bramble does most of the road work in Kent and Queen Anne’s Counties.
