Tiny Tots Perform for Family

About 75 parents, grandparents and siblings sat beaming at their youngsters’ performances during the Tiny Tots Graduation/ Celebration, May 20 at the Matapeake Elementary School Auditorium.

Following the Pledge of Allegiance, the students performed a number of songs for the audience. Three-year-old students Dakota Blanchard, Sean Burns, Olivia Faff, Allison Horney, Carter Lichok, Rachel Mellinger, Caden Miller, Bethany Nicholson, Logan Ours, Garrett Smith, Jeremy Smith Jr. and Miles Tate joined in the performance and then received Certificates of Participation and treat bags.

Graduating last week were Sara Berger, Trey Brown, Cayden Curry, Madison Deighan, Blake Donovan, Jacob Fulton, James Gardner, Kelsie Hart, Caitey Patterson, Joey Perticone, Emily Price and Ronnie Scearce, Jr. and each received a diploma for completing the four-year-olds program.

Barbara Baxter, recreation coordinator for Queen Anne’s County Parks & Recreation said the program is now teaching the children of parents who themselves graduated years ago from the Tiny Tot Preschool program. Baxter has been with the Tiny Tots program since 1988, and instructor Linda Simmons came on board two years prior.

Sharing, caring, learning and fun have been the keys to Tiny Tots Preschool’s success for more than 30 years. Tiny Tots, a program of Queen Anne’s County Parks and Recreation, provides preschool classes to children who will turn 3 or 4 by the end of each calendar year. Classes are held in a classroom at Stevensville’s Historic Christ Church. Tiny Tots kids are introduced to numbers, letters, colors, tastes, history, science and math; while developing social skills in a caring, fun-filled environment.

The 32-year-old program is licensed by the state’s Department of Education Office of Child Care. QACParks and Recreation is now accepting applications for Fall Registration. Tiny Tots’ program for 3-year-olds will be offered during the 2009/2010 school year on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Classes for 4-year-olds will be held Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The annual fees are $900 for 3-year-old classes and $1,000 for the 4-year-old program. To help with the family budgeting process, preschool fees may be paid in monthly installments, bi-annually, or annually. There is a $50 non-refundable registration fee.
