Grasonville Senior Center is excited to announce its newest Craft Design and Production class with emphasis on Traditional Rug Hooking. This class is designed to teach the students the production and marketing of Hooked Rugs. It will be offered on Wednesdays, February 4 – April 22, 2009, from 1:00 – 3:30PM. Traditional Rug Hooking is one of America’s oldest art forms. The technique is simple in which woolen fabric is cut into thin strips, and then pulled up through a rug foundation creating a rug or wall hanging sure to become a cherished family heirloom. There is a $25.00 supply fee for materials needed to complete the first project which is currently on display at the senior center. Registration fee is just $10.00 and participants may also take additional classes at no extra cost. Students must be aged 60 or better to participate in this Chesapeake College Division of Continuing Education and Workforce Training class.
